The product
Resin bonded, not resin bound: the resin is squeegeed onto the substrate and aggregate is broadcast into it. The result is a textured, high-grip dressing rather than a permeable screed, and the substrate preparation rules are much stricter.
Where it is used
- High-grip surface dressing over concrete or bituminous bases
- Ramps, slopes and areas needing texture
- Decorative dressing where a permeable build-up is not required
Substrates
- Concrete primed with EP Addastone Primer, moisture below 4%, free of rising damp — typically one week per 25 mm of new concrete
- New bituminous: 50–60 mm AC20 Dense Bin 100/150 base course with 25–30 mm AC6 Dense Surf 100/150, laid to a fall of 1:40 to 1:60
- Bituminous surfaces dried at least 7 days before shot blasting, or 28 days if not shot blasting
- Core samples recommended to confirm base suitability
Application data
Coverage, thickness, mix and cure, as declared by the manufacturer. Site conditions in the Gulf sit at the top of most of these ranges — allow for it in the programme.
| Product | Two-part pale buff polyurethane resin surface dressing |
|---|---|
| Mixing | Part A stirred to homogenous consistency, Part B scraped in, mixed several minutes with a low-speed drill |
| Laying | Applied by 3 mm serrated squeegee and back-rolled to even out |
| Finishing | Swept and vacuumed on completion, and again until aggregate shedding is exhausted |
| Packaging | 20 kg and bulk units |
| Storage | Clean dry area out of direct sunlight and extremes; 6 months unopened, oldest stock first |
Performance data
Every figure below is reproduced from the manufacturer's own technical data sheet, with the test standard it was measured against. The sheet itself is in the download section.
| Property | Result | Standard |
|---|---|---|
| Concrete moisture limit | Below 4%, free of rising damp | Addagrip data sheet |
| Bituminous base | 50–60 mm AC20 Dense Bin 100/150 + 25–30 mm AC6 Dense Surf 100/150 | Addagrip data sheet |
| Falls | Minimum 1:40 to 1:60 | Addagrip data sheet |
| Application window | 5 – 30 °C, RH not above 80%, substrate 3 °C above dew point | Addagrip data sheet |
Where not to use it
The limits are as much a part of the specification as the performance. Everything here is stated on the manufacturer's data sheet.
- Surfaces must be dry — do not apply in wet conditions
- Not below 5 °C nor above 30 °C; relative humidity not above 80%
- Substrate must be 3 °C above the dew point
- Addastone Thixotropic Agent must be added for any asphalt application
- Aggregate colour varies between batches; iron particles can cause rust spotting
- This is not a permeable system
Resin bonded surface dressing: Addagrip PU Addastone two-part polyurethane resin applied by 3 mm serrated squeegee and back-rolled, with aggregate broadcast to excess and surplus swept and vacuumed. Concrete substrates primed with EP Addastone Primer, moisture content below 4%. Bituminous substrates to 50–60 mm AC20 Dense Bin 100/150 and 25–30 mm AC6 Dense Surf 100/150 laid to falls of 1:40 to 1:60. Addastone Thixotropic Agent added for all asphalt applications. Core samples to be taken to confirm base suitability.
Square brackets mark the choices that belong to the project. Send us the finishes schedule and we will return the clause completed, with the sample and mock-up programme against it.
