The product
The reference UV-stable resin bound system: a cold-applied clear polyurethane screed binding natural aggregate into a permeable, seamless surface course. BBA assessed, with published permeability figures a drainage engineer can design to.
Where it is used
- Domestic driveways and patios
- Pedestrian areas and footpaths
- Lightly trafficked car parks
- Low speed access roads
- Promenades and landscape paving
Substrates
- Concrete — clean, dry, free of laitance, oil, grease and loose friable particles
- Asphalt — clean and dry, to a suitable base build-up
- Movement and construction joints in concrete must be reflected through the surface
- Edging in brick, stone, concrete or steel as required
Application data
Coverage, thickness, mix and cure, as declared by the manufacturer. Site conditions in the Gulf sit at the top of most of these ranges — allow for it in the programme.
| Product | Polyurethane resin for resin bound surfacing |

| Laying | Spread with a straight-bladed squeegee, hand-trowelled or power-floated to a compacted finish |
| Anti-skid dressing | Fine glass grit or white aluminium oxide at approx. 50 g/m², available on request |
| Initial cure | Varies with accelerator addition |
| Full chemical cure | 7 days |
| Packaging | Pre-weighed units |
| Storage | Above 7 °C, out of direct sunlight, wind and rain; 6 months unopened |
Performance data
Every figure below is reproduced from the manufacturer's own technical data sheet, with the test standard it was measured against. The sheet itself is in the download section.
| Property | Result | Standard |
|---|---|---|
| Third-party assessment | BBA Agrément Certificate as a resin bound aggregate surfacing system for use as a surface course | British Board of Agrément |
| Permeability — 3 mm aggregate | 4.46 – 7.67 L/sec/m² at 12 mm depth | BS EN 12697-40:2005 |
| Permeability — 6 mm aggregate | 7.39 – 20 L/sec/m² at 18 mm depth | BS EN 12697-40:2005 |
| Permeability — 10 mm aggregate | 17 – 30 L/sec/m² at 22 mm depth | BS EN 12697-40:2005 |
| Skid resistance — pedestrian | Slider 96 > 55 | TRL 176 |
| Skid resistance — vehicular | Slider 57 > 60 | TRL 176 |
| Full chemical cure | 7 days | Addagrip data sheet |
Where not to use it
The limits are as much a part of the specification as the performance. Everything here is stated on the manufacturer's data sheet.
- Do not apply in wet conditions
- Surface must be above 5 °C and at least 3 °C above the dew point
- Natural aggregate colour and texture vary between batches; iron particles can cause rust spotting
- Permeability depends on the whole build-up, not the surface course alone
Resin bound surfacing: Addagrip Addaset UV-stable polyurethane resin bound aggregate surface course, [10] mm aggregate laid [22] mm thick, blend and colour to the approved sample panel, over the base course specified. Permeability not less than [17] L/sec/m² to BS EN 12697-40:2005. Skid resistance to TRL 176, Slider 96 greater than 55. Substrate joints reflected through the surface. Edge restraint as detailed. 7 days full chemical cure before trafficking.
Square brackets mark the choices that belong to the project. Send us the finishes schedule and we will return the clause completed, with the sample and mock-up programme against it.

Technical support for the design team
We supply the material and we apply it, so the specification and the workmanship sit with one party. Send a finishes schedule, an elevation or a mood board and we will come back with the system, the build-up, the sample programme and a completed clause.
